Nos llegaron las fotos de Navidad que habíamos dejado en Puerto Rico este sábado y como lo prometido es deuda aquí está un recuento de nuestras vacaciones de Navidad en Puerto Rico. (We got the Christmas pictures on Saturday that we forgot in Puerto Rico and since I promised to post them here is a summary of our Christmas vacation in Puerto Rico). El primer día se fue en renovación de pasaportes y otras cosas, pero ya en el segundo día nos fuimos a Arecibo a ver el Radiotelescopio y las cavernas de Camuy... lamentablemente las cavernas estaban cerradas. Para aquellos interesados cierran los lunes y martes. El radiotelescopio estaba abierto, nos paramos a comer unos tostones y otras delicias puertorriqueñas. (The first day went on with mostly passport renewal and other things like that so no big plans there, the second day we went to Arecibo to see the radar telescope and the Camuy caverns, but the caverns were close so we settle for the obsevatory and some good Puertorrican food on the road like "tostones" (fried green plantains)).
Decoraciones de Navidad. Papá y mamá estuvieron en Ponce cuidando de la abuela que estaba en el hospital unas tres semanas antes de Navidad. Con los viajes de San Juan-Ponce y el trabajo no les dio tiempo de comprar el árbol de Navidad a tiempo. Una vez la abuela se recuperó y ellos regresaron a su rutina normal, el único árbol que quedaba era este hermoso gigante. Con mucho cariño y espíritu navideño lo decoramos y rodeamos de ragalitos. (Christmas decorations. So mom and dad were in Ponce taking care of my grandmother in the hospital around three weeks before Christmas and between San Juan and Ponce and work they just didn't have time to get a Christmas tree on time. Once my grandma got better and they got back to their routines the only tree left was this beautiful giant one. We lots of love and Christmas Spirit we decorated the tree and put our gifts under.)

Mamá con su regalo. Santa le trajo un Wii fit, para hacer yoga y ejercicios. (Mom got a Wii fit from Santa to do some yoga and other exercises.)
Me presté de ejemplo para que mamá y papá supieran cómo funciona, y como ven my balance es del una persona de 30 años... tengo 28 así que lo dejo a la imaginación del lector. (I was the example for my parents to learn how to use the Wii fit, but it backfire in my face as my balance turns out to be that of a 30 years old person... I'm 28 so, yeah there you have it.)
Unos de mis regalos fue un libro de la película "Star Wars" o Guerra de las galaxias que tiene muchas curiosidades y detalles. Y para aquellos que no saben es una de mis películas favoritas. (For Christmas I got a cool Star Wars book with lots of good insides and info about the making of the movie, for those that don't know Star Wars is one of my favorite movies.)

The yoyo master. Dave recibió un yoyo (ya ven que se la da muy bien) un juego de nintendo y una botella de licor para ir de camping. (Dave got a yoyo (he is really good at it), Mario Kart for the Wii and a licor flask for camping or other stuff.)

Navidad en Ponce con la abuela. (Christmas in Ponce with grandma.)
Una amiga de Olga, Roxy (como la llamamos cariñosamente), celebró su boda el 27 de diciembre en Cerro Gordo. Olga tenía una habitación en la que podíamos dormir todos así que nos fuimos por dos días y medio a disfrutar de la costa oeste y celebrar con Roxy su boda. El 27 por la mañana amaneció con un poc de lluvias, no es lo mejor para los turistas, pero nos dio tiempo a ayudar a Roxy con unas preparaciones y problemas con la impresora... Dave al rescate. (A friend Olga, Roxy (as we call her), had her wedding on the 27th of December in Cerro Gordo. Olga had a room with space for all of us to stay so we decided to spend two and a half days by the West coast of the island and celebrate with Roxy. The morning of the 27th was a bit rainy, not the ideal for the tourist, but it gave us time to help out Roxy with some wedding last minute things and fix her printer... Dave to the rescue.)

El padrino les dedicó una canción. (The best man wrote a song for them.)
Pleneros, nos dieron un espectáculo increible. La música y entretenimiento de la fiesta quedaron genial, tuvieron una parranda navideña entrando al local, luego una banda que tocó un poquito de salsa y merengue entre otras cosas, luego comieron, y luego los pleneros llegaron a darnos un espectácula. También hubo el baile con la novia y el novio, le liga, el ramo de flores y otras cosas, en fin muy divertido. (In the picture, "pleneros" playing "plana", its a traditional Puertorrican music. The wedding music and entertainment was great they started with a "parranda navideña" (singing Puertorrican songs with los of percusion and maracas), then the live band played some salsa and merengue among other styles, then they ate and after the "planeros" gave us a great show. They also had the traditional dance with the bride and groom and the bouque tossing, in conclusion its a fun and very nice time.)

El 28 amaneció soleado y precioso, aquí está Dave celebrando. (The 28th was sunny and just ideal for th beach, so here is Dave celebrating the good weather.)
Decidimos ir a la piscina del hotel, aquí de camino. (We dedided to try the hotel pool first and here we are on our way there.)
Un valiente. A pesar de ser una isla tropical y estar calientitos el agua de la piscina estaba bastante fría. (A brave one. Even though we are on a tropical island and we are nice and tosty outsite the pool water was just cold.)
Otra valiente... bueno me tomó un poquito más entrar, pero lo logré. (Another brave one... well it took me a bit longer to get in, but I did it at the end.)

Luego de dejar el hotel nos fuimos a Fajardo (en la costa oeste aún) y nos encontramos con los recién casados y otros para ir a la playa. (After the check out we went to Fajardo (still on the west coast) and got together with the couple and others to go to the beach.)
Nos fuimos a Las Croabas. Aquí estamos los primos de Roxy, Dave y yo. (We went to Las Croabas beach, here we are with Roxy's cousins.)
