Herman es uno de los guardaespaldas, es cazador y capitán de un bote de caza. Aquí está haciendo unas reparaciones a las pieles que cubren el bote. (This is Herman, one of the many polar bear guard, he is a hunter and captain of whaling boat.)
El armazó del bote está hecho de madera, en los tiempos de antes solían usar huesos de animales que cazaban. La piel que cubre el armazón es de foca, para este bote usaron un total de 7 focas. Ellos usan todo el animal la carne se la comen y los órganos también, los huesos se solían usar para construir herramientas, que aún hoy día las usan. (The boat skeleton is made out of wood, while in the old days they used bones from the animals. They use seal skin to cover the boat skeleton, they used 7 seals in total for this boat.)
Para cocer las pieles usan una técnica que comprende en solapar las pieles sin traspasar de un lado a otro. Usan tendones de caribú como hilo que ellos mismos construyen. (They stitch the skins together by over-imposing part of the skin with the next one and not going through the skin from one side to the other. They use caribou tendons to make the rope to stitch)
Esta es Roberta y lleva cociendo botes y ayudando desde 1983, estas son sus herramientas. (This is Roberta , she's been stitching since 1983 and these are her tools.)
