¡Qué viva Chile y su comida! (Yay for Chile and their food!)

Nuestro buen amigo Mike celebró su cumpleaños el 27 de abril y como parte de su semana nos cocinó una serie de cenas, una chilena y otra francesas, hummm. (Our good friend Mike had his birthday on the 27th and as part of his one week celebration he cooked a series of dinners, Chilean dinner and French dinner. Here are some pictures of the Chilean dinner.)
Cena al fresco, ensalada rusa (patatas, guisantes, mayonesa casera, olivas, maiz, y otros), ensalada de lentejas, ensalda chilena (tomates y cebolla), ensalada de apio (apio y aguacates), palta reina (palta = aguacate, y ensalada de pollo) y tres carnes (res, cerdo y cordero). (Dinner "al fresco", 4 salads and 3 meats, very nice!)

Camping: Monongahela National Park in West Virginia

Este fin de semana nos fuimos de camping al estado de West Virginia al Bosque Nacional de Monongahela. Nos encontramos con Jennifer y Owen que se mudaron de Fairbanks a Blacksburg en el estado de Virginia y pasamos la primera noche en su casita. Al otro día (viernes) Dave, Mike y yo seguimos carretera para llegar al campamento y montar las casas de acampar. Stefanie que también conocimos en Fairbanks y ahora vive en el área de Boston, llegó al campamento unos 30 minutes después de nosotros llegar. Luego mucho más tarde en la noche Jennifer llegó con Owen, su hijo de cuatro años. (This last weekend (April 17th) we went camping to Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. We met with Jennifer and Owen on Thursday night and spend the night over there with them, they just recently moved from Fairbanks, AK to Blacksburg, VA. Then next day (Friday) head north to WV to get to the camp site and set the tents and start our camping weekend. Stef arrived from Boston like 30 minutes after we got there and Jennifer joined us later that night.)

Empezando el día... desayuno, café y relajando en el campamento antes de comenzar las actividades. (Starting our day with some yumy breakfast, coffee and relaxing around the campground before starting our daily activities.)

Por fin nos movimos del campamento, no sé la hora, pero sé que nos tomó tiempo decidir qué hacer, eh estamos de vacaciones hay que relajarse un poco. En la foto de izquierda a derecha, Stef, Jennifer, Dave y Mike. Decidimos irnos de caminata a un lugar llamado las Rocas de Séneca. Quedaba a una hora en carretera y luego unos 2.6 millas (4 km) de caminata. (We finally started moving, but not sure when and how long it took us to choose what to do, meh we are on vacations and need to relax, right? In this picture from left to right we have Stef, Jennifer, Dave and Mike. We decided to go for a hike at Seneca Rocks, which was an hour road trip and then 2.6 miles trail.)
El pequeñajo es Owen, hijo de Jennifer. Hizo todo el camino incluyendo extra cuando tomamos el camino incorrecto y tuvimos que virar. (The litle one is Owen, Jennifer's son, he is 4 years old and real trooper, he did the whole 2.6 miles plus some more when we took the wrong trail, wow what a good boy.)

Como se imaginan Dave y Owen hicieron buenas migas, rápido encontraron entretenimiento por el sendero. (Dave and Owen clicked very well and quickly found things to do in the trail.)

Sábado tranquilo (Easy Saturday)

Este sábado transplantamos las plantas de tomates que compramos el fin de samana pasado y los añadimos a nuestra colección en expansión. Ya también tenemos en plan unas tablillas para colocar las plantas en alto y mantenerlas lejos del alcance de Bruno. (This Saturday morning we went around town to get some pots for the tomato plants we got in the Farmer's Market last weekend and are now part of our expading garden. We are now thinking in getting some sort of shelves to put them out of Bruno's reach... more on that later.)

Al medio día nos fuimos a Raleigh, capital del estado de Carolina del Norte (nos queda a unos 30 minutos en carretera), nos llevamos las bicicletas y nos dimos un paseo hasta el museo de arte. (We went to Raleigh around noon which is about 30 minutes away and took our bikes for a nice ride to the musseum.)
Bueno comienzo para este sábado... el plan para el resto del día incluye una buena cena y relajarnos en casa con Bruno. (Good way to start the day... our plan for the rest of the day is to relax, cook a nice dinner and relax with the dog.)
